We have a 2001 vintage Fadal VMC 15XT. It is only used for educational purposes (high school robotics team) and we rarely have trouble with it. But yesterday it would not turn on, showed the Fadal logo then the relays shut off that power the +12/+5DC supply. I called a tech and they recommended going into diagnostic mode and zeroing out the machine. It took three cycles (plus reseating some relays which probably the original problem).

It is now acting normally except we cannot get a program to show up after loading it. We loaded the programs using the same methods that worked in the past. I think the program is loading since we see it scrolling on the screen and get the normal messages. But afterwards the program does not show up in the list. And after selecting "Auto" we get "Program Block Not Found". I'm thinking there is some special parameter that needs changing. We reloaded the rest and the backlash numbers.

Anyone out there been through something like this?

We finally got it working. We made a lucky guess that the first program entered after zeroing memory needs to be done locally (from the keyboard). Perhaps there are some data structures and/or links that only get done for the first program? Something like that was the case. We created a simple program from the keyboard that did almost nothing. After that programs loaded remotely as before (we zeroed memory) with no change in any comms parameters, cables etc.
