    UC400ETH Not Connecting

    Hi All,

I just put my license file in the UCCNC folder and opened UCCNC and it said I needed to do a firmware update so I did. I then opened UCCNC again and got this message:

“The application lost the connection to the motion controller device. Check the connection. The application is closing now! Save offsets?"

I reset the UC400ETH and tried again and got the same error. I can access the UC400ETH with the utility and set the ip address just fine. There are not any ip conflicts on the network.

    Any suggestions?

    Chuck

Make sure you rename the licence file. You need to remove the serial number from the license file name.

    Arturo,
That's not true. It is normal to have more licence file in UCCNC folder. UCCNC checks for the filename like "UCCNClicense*.txt", so this way you may store more licence files. See my folder:

    Chuck,

How did you reset UC400? Did you press reset while no power on UC400 and released only after the power was on again? The UCxxx_utility should find the UC400 if they are on the same network, regardless of the IP adresses. Be sure to connect your PC with wired network, because wifi will not work.

Changed the license file, removed the SN and it worked! Thanks Arturo

Yes I pressed the reset button with the power off then kept it pressed and powered on the unit.

I imported my Mach3 config and all looks good for the most part, I do need to make some tweaks.

    Thanks for the Help!

I think, that the elapsed time resolved the problem. If there is a problem with the licence file, you get a licence error, not communication. Maybe, the UC400 needed more time to find the network...

So I got home this evening and tried to open UCCNC and got the same error again. Thoughts?

It sounds like a network problem. Do you have direct wire or network connection to the controller?
Post your settings from the utility tool and the network ipconfig settings.

    Re: UC400ETH Not Connecting

    UC400ETH:
    IP: 192.168.5.20
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway: 192.168.5.1

and yes my LAN is 192.168.5.x

So I just changed UC400ETH ip to 192.168.5.10 and it worked, surely I don't have to change the ip address everytime?

Ofcourse you don't have to change the IP address every time. You have to do it once, but you have to do it properly.
The IP address of your computer must fit the IP address and subnet mask of your controller and then it will work.
If your LAN card is doing DHCP then check the DHCP option in the controller and then the LAN card will give an IP to the controller.

From the Utility, you need to enable DHCP for the UC400ETH.

Why do I have to use DHCP? Will it not work if I assign a static IP to the UC400ETH? The UC400ETH is plugged into a switch on my network. The router on my network has DHCP enabled for oddball things connecting but I do use static IP's for several things on the network.
