Question Optical switch wiring to powered inputs

    Hello,
I'm building a CNC machine, I completed the mechanic steps, now I have to connect the electric components ! =)
    And I have a problem with my optical switch V19 1028 (https://www.amazon.fr/pi%C3%A8ces-Op.../dp/B079RC2PHN)
And my board is a 4 axis USB Mach3 (https://www.sainsmart.com/products/4...breakout-board)

This board have powered input ( 22v ), when a limit switch is reached it connect the pin to the ground.

But my optical switch are providing in off state 0.3V and in on state 5V.

I guess I should use a transistor with the base connect to the signal from the optical switch ....
But I don't know how to chose the components and how to wire =(
Thank you in advance to help. I hope It was clear =)

    Tony,

If I'm understanding right your board uses 24v to see the signal and your switch only puts out 5v? If so I've used these as an easy cheap solution to shift the voltage

Re: Optical switch wiring to powered inputs

    Thank you for your reply.

I think this solution can work but I need to make it work today, I'm in thailand and the ebay delivery time will be around 2 weeks. =(

My board have a tension of 24V on the input pin. We should connect a switch and when it's closed there is a courant to the ground and the board detect it.

But the optical switch are supposed to be connected to a imput pin without any tension. When it's ON they apply a tension of 5V to the imput pin.

The main difference is the current is going in a different direction between the two kind of switch.

I can go in an electric shop to buy conponents but I don't know which transistor can use 0.7V to 5V apply on his base...

    Thanks
