    Inlay technique

Hey Guy's, I have v-carve pro 8.5, and I want to try something new. I want to do an inlay, and I thought the auto-inlay was the way to go. Cut the pocket, then the male and wham-oo. But, everything I see on the web or on you tube says take the "project", size it and position like you want it. Use the image and flip it, draw square around everything and use v-carve/engraving for both male and female. So, I am confused, I guess the auto-inlay has me wondering. Can you advise me as to the technique I need to use, and also I was thinking a 60 degree v-bit with a sharp tip would be better for cutting and using on letters in the inlay so they would be more distinct when finished. Thanks for the help Frank

I'm assuming that you are talking about this technique? Vectric Forum • View topic - A simple way to make inlays

It's rally just a matter of personal preference. The V Carve inlay method can give you finer details and sharp corners. The standard inlay method can give you a thicker inlay, if you need it.
