Already posted in the mold making section but not getting any responses there. I need to machine some molds and it's going to be MUCH more convenient to start with material that is faced both sides. Won't go into detail on the reasons why. Question is, will cast tooling plate like atp-5 Machine nicely and leave a good surface finish when 3d milling? Or is it significant harder to work with vs something like 6061 bar stock? I've heard cast tooling plate can be gummy. I'll be using a maritool 3 flute zrn and kool mist. Should this work ok for 3d milling with good surface finish? Also will it polish nicely?
