    Deceitful advertising

    Hello Guys

It is very unfair to tell people how easy it is to make a complex machine do anything and do everything.

A CNC is not a toy and it will task anyone’s patience because once you can get it to do something successfully you want it to do something more complex. It demands tedious attention to maintenance and operation and should not be labeled as “you simply press GO and you can walk away to come back and see the finished product”.

Please view the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t74r8dlseQ and let me know what you think.

    Thanks.

While I certainly wouldn't buy a Legacy machine, it is a 5 axis machine. Just not the same as the $1,000,000 one you are comparing it to.

If anyone doesn't do the appropriate research before buying a machine, it's on them.

You spent some time not the video, but I’m not sure I understand your point, other than it doesn’t appear to be true 5 axis

    Ger,
    This company targets novices.

    Hyperbole: Noun.

    1. obvious and intentional exaggeration.
    2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”

I don't think that they target novices.
But novices may be more susceptible to exaggerated claims.

You could argue that most manufacturers of CNC machines try to make things appear to be easier than they actually are.

    Re: Deceitful advertising

Plenty of companies “play” with facts and stats. My first “machine” I knew nothing about Cnc’s and I saw videos and articles not just by the company but also wood working sites praising it. Believing what I found I bought it and was unhappy. It as made of plastic and should never have been allowed to be sold as anything other than a toy. They still sell them today and they still get advertising by some outside companies.

I am looking for a new machine now and it is still hard to sort thru all of the minutiae

Gerry is, beyond doubt, our in house Oracle. When Gerry makes his opinion known on an issue other people make quiet noises or do not talk at all.
But I do not agree with him (please don't lynch me). So Gerry, sir,
    1. Can you please watch
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xDzePY0gxE
and see if you still maintain your position that Legacy make 5 axis cnc.
    2. Can you please tell us newbies why you would not buy from a company like Legacy without going into specifics.
    Thank you all.

It's not what most people think of when they here 5 axis, but that's pretty obvious. But it does use 5 axis, as I said before.

I wouldn't buy a Legacy because you can get a better machine for the same money, imo.

5 points of articulation, no matter how small or configured, is 5 axis. How's that "deceitful"? What do you prefer they call it.....4.5 axis?

Its kind of like your looking for a solution for something that's not a problem. People know what they buy. Once a person decides to invest in equipment its agonizing how much research goes into it. Its not a decision to be taken lightly.....unless you got a boat load of money. Your problem is you think people that buy a legacy are being fooled and that's just not the case.

If they want a legacy to make table legs, columns, baseball bats or what ever..... more power to them. Its just one of many options being used every day to complete a project or job requirement. If you had a contract for 100's of tapered spindles a Gemini would be a viable tool for for the job.

You act like its useless. If you can get ROI any machine is worth it.

    Whats your problem with https://lwmcnc.com/

BTW....I'm not sucking up to Ger21 ...I just don't get your point.....

The point is that their videos deceived me into buying from them. Their machine was DOA. Thankfully I bought with only 20% of the cash available. After one year on knocking me head and starting to doubt me intelligence I woke up one day to realise that the machine is very badly constructed. So I listed solutions for each problem and specified a bigger better machine. So at the risk of becoming a nuisance kindly view this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ey9usL02dw and feel free to lambast me if necessary.

    Thank you.

    Ger,

Can you tell us 2 or 3 companies that give better value than Legacy?

    Todd71

Legacy sold me a refurbished machine that was dead on arrival when I paid for a new one. I now have a bigger and more complex machine and I am doing fine now. I know I am a nuisance but kindly look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ey9usL02dw and give me your opinion.

This is the third time I am posting these replies because when I post I cannot find the replies.

    Ger,
Can you tell us two or three companies that might give more value for same price?

    Todd71
Legacy sold me a refurbished machine when I paid for a new one. It was dead on arrival and, being a newbie, I started losing confidence in myself and became a depression patient. When it dawned on me that the machine was no good I specified solution to each of the problems and bought a bigger and more complex machine and there was no more problems. As I am already a nuisance please view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ey9usL02dw and kindly comment.

    Best regards.

You won't find a similar sized machine for the same price. You get what you pay for.
If you want a better machine, look at Camaster.
