I am having trouble understanding this deep hole peck drilling , when i post this from hsmworks everything seems fine , but when i run the program, the drill doesnt seem to fully retract it just runs like a chip breaking cycle , which obviously now builds up with chips a sample of the code is attached Attachment 292372 any help on this would be greatly appreciated to all you siemens gurus out there!!

Hello,
The issue you are having is because the 12th parameter in the cycle needs to be set to 1 not 0.
CYCLE83(83.807,0,2,-65.391, ,-1, ,0, , ,1,0, ,1,0,0,0) yours
CYCLE83(83.807,0,2,-65.391, ,-1, ,0, , ,1,1, ,1,0,0,0) mine
If you can change that parameter you should see a full retract from the hole.

Sinumerik CYCLE 83 used for deep hole drilling . We also known as deep hole peck drilling cycle

VARI, _AXN, _MDEP, _VRT, _DTD, _DIS1)

Where, RTP- Retraction plane (absolute)
RFP- Reference plane (absolute)
SDIS- Safety distance
DP- Final drilling depth (absolute)
DPR- Final drilling depth related to reference plane .
FDEP- First drilling depth (absolute)
FDPR- First drilling depth relative to reference plane
DAM- Amount of degression
DTB- Dwell time at final
DTS- Dwell time at starting point for swarf removal
FRF- First drilling depth feed rate factor . Range value
0.001.....1
VARI- Machining type : (chip break =0 , swarf removal= 1)
