VMC600 is displaying a 'exchange buffer batteries' warning - for about 4 days.
I understand these batteries are located in the 'gold' box by the main electrical supply panel.
Am I right in thinking I have to momentarily cut the power in order to enter the panel then turn power back on before changing the batteries?

Assuming a Heidenhain control

usually when the message first comes up, the batteries are low not dead.

yes you need to shut the power off due to the interlocked door, otherwise you change the batteries with the power on.

If you do not have your parameters backed up, do it now!

So, open the door

turn the power on by fooling the little lever on the power switch

replace the batteries with the power on and you will not lose your programs and parameters
