    Michael, the spindle cap on the nose of the lathe only comes off if you take out the spindle. I have attached an image of the spindle removed from the lathe. Don't try and pry off the cap.

    Thanks for saving me some grief - I apparently mixed up the meaning of front and rear.

    Hey Guys. Running my SP today and noticed something. It had started making a ticking and squawking sound - a bit like bearings dying.

    So I pull off the end cover and kept running parts - and tried different things - put a trace of silicone grease on the edge of the timimg belt - it looked like it was rubbing on the encoder pulley flange.

    That fixed it - it is quiet again now. If you try this dont use more than a trace - you dont want it getting on the main drive belt.

    Michael, did you ever figure this out?

    Hate to bring back a year old thread, but knowing if you were able to get any help from Tormach might help with others deciding if they will purchase from them.
