    Mach3 plasma issue

    Hi,

I have a cnc machine we built, the issue I am having is that when I cat something on the machine and the torch is in direct contact with the steel it makes a small spark and then mach3 says there is a watchdog error,

It also then throws out all USB ports like keyboard and mouse. I then have to unplug then and re-plug them to work.

I use a mach 3 usb controller without a THC

Usb is very sensitive to electrical noise.

There are many things that can propose the problem.

As you know it is your plasma torch, what type of plasma cutter do you have (is it blowback start, high frequency start, scratch start)

In the short term you can try to use ferrite cores to surprises some of the noise (they may not work with your plasma noise )

There is also the possibility you need an isolated USB interface

Normally with plasma ethernet is recommended.... However you may have other problems too (incorrect grounding and isolation)

    Good luck
