Where do I go from here??

Got a CNCRP4848 Pro Plug and Play. Got it up to the putting the cables and hooking up stage and am now totally confused. The instructions say "connect all the cables". I need a little more detail. I know there have been several threads and videos on these, but the more I look the more confused I've become. Can somebody point me in the right direction?

I started with the same machine (NEMA34 but it shouldn't matter).

The instructions here: http://www.cncrouterparts.com/cad/20...v2016Q1_14.pdf beginning in section 7, page 239 are pretty straightforward. You say it's the plug and play kit, you got the spindle, VDF, controllers, etc from them? Perhaps take pictures of where you're stuck or inventory what you have and we can help. What are you specifically stuck on?

The color pages help. I had printed them in black and white. Guess I should get some colored tape, too.

Still confused on connecting the switches and sensors and how it all connects. All those packages of cables are intimidating.

And yes, I got the whole ball of wax from them.

It's really pretty straightforward; label each cable as appropriate (both ends), then connect them to the CNCRP control box as indicated. Each connector is label on the control box on the bottom (made it a little difficult as I had to lay down to see the labels), but it's honestly pretty straightforward.

    Any specific questions/problems?

Call CNCRP if you can't figure it out, and they'll walk you through it.

Marking could be color-coded tape with the same color applied to both ends. Multiple bands of tape to identify the individual cables, 2 bands on each end for example. Or you could tape and use a marker to identify each cable. They also make label printers with printable shrink wrap as an option though I wouldn’t necessarily buy it for a single project.

    HJ,
Here are some pics & info that might help. There are 5 switches, all identical, pics below. Also a drawing showing locations and designation of each switch and drawing of bottom of control box ports where cables from switches plugin. All you need to do is run a cable from each port on the bottom of the control box to the correct switch location. The cables may be different lengths so make sure you have a cable that's the correct length. You'll notice the X & Y switches have a + & - switch. Here is the location for those files.

Just click on the item your working on and scroll down.

@honesttjohn were you able to get this sorted out? The pictures GigaWatt provided are spot on.

I ran all the cables on the floor the first time I did this, just to make sure I knew that things were working and I was using the right cables in the right places. Once you are happy with the electricals then take the time to route the cables neatly out of the way. There were some occassions where a single cable was just a couple of feet too short, so I just spliced it rather than use an extension cord and have 20' of extra cable. These are just unshielded single lines I'm talking about, nothing that complicated. I probably wouldn't try to splice a motor line.

I used rigid conduit and split loom for a finished look that adds some protection. I didn't want a lot of cables underneath the table because I plan to use that for material storage, so I routed around the perimeter.

I used cable clamps like these -

    Split loom like this -

And cable raceways like these -

You'll find that something a lot of us have done is manufacture some sort of guards for those limit sensors to protect them from damage. They stick out and it is really easy to imagine hitting one and either breaking it or bending it.

Sorry for the lack of response. New grandson decided to make his appearance. This fell down a little on the priority list.

Got all the cables run and hooked up along with the control boxes hung. Having trouble with download of Mach 3 -- something about the license CNCRP gave me not right.

Looking to clean up all the loose cables and pick up the new computer this week.

Was planning on using those hose clamps for some of it. Will probably either zip tie or use some of that conduit on other parts of it.

Also have to get a new box with the right 220 plug end and move it where it's more convenient.

Getting closer. Hope it all works. Would like to make some dust by the end of the month.
