Question Can anyone tell what these do? Masterwood P327

On the Masterwood P327 (and many other machines) you have locator pins (vertical) to position the work piece in the designated field of work.

Can anyone tell me what these are and how they should operate? It looks like they are horizontal locator pins, and if so, how does this system work? it seems like it would get in the way of machining. or is it a horizontal clamping system that needs an attachment to clamp a thin work piece?

    any insight would be great.

    Thankyou

Not sure. The 327 I used to use didn't have those. If they are for locating, maybe they retract When the cycle starts?
What do they look like extended?

yeah the one i have doesnt have them either - this is trying to help a worker in the business looking at another secondhand machine. i assume their just pins - they should retract before a cycle start - however they seem to be lower than the pods which makes me question their true purpose. I am awaiting an extended picture.
