If any-one could suggest where is a good place to buy ballscrews and nuts for a PM-30 or PM45 sized milling machine that would be appreciated. I'm trying to cost things up cheers

OH I'm in the UK if that makes a difference.

When sizing ballscrews as I don't have a lathe do I need to request thay they are cut/finished as required? (i'm not sure what that involves)

I have Automation Technologies double nut/ballscrew kit on a Grizzly mill and am pleased with the precision and quality. You can source the same screws and nuts from China on Ebay which many have done with success and save a few $. If you don't have a lathe or want to mess with fabricating the thread/mounts yourself, many will also cut to size and turn/thread to your specs for very reasonable. The kits simplify things and the ones Automation Tech has with the screws sized for specific machines are pretty much ready to mount. You'll likely need to mill out some space on the bottom of your table for the nut to fit. I had another mill handy when I did mine, but many have used a grinder or other means.

Ok thanks, what is the spec on the screws and nuts? I see the nuts are listed as DUF but I don't understand what that means cheers.

I believe the SUF are the single nut version and DUF is the double nut. The double nut setup is more accurate/less backlash.

Is the X screw 16mm and Y,Z 20mm? (it looks smaller in the photo) is that to allow fitting without machining the saddle?
