Question Fanuc Compact flash pc editing tool for large programs

    Hello,

I am able to create large files and save them to a compact flash card using the PC editing tool from Fanuc which saves programs to a bin. file on the card.
Operation is identical to machine memory when running at the control other than all of the probing macros etc. being in the machine memory side so you have to switch back and forth to probe. (I wonder if you could copy the machine 900 programs to the bin file to workaround this?)

But my problem is I can not view these programs inside the bin file back at my PC. The PC editing tool that puts the programs onto the flash card is a one way ticket, I can go to the machine no problem, but if I make edits to the program on the control I can't get back to my PC to continue working with the program.

This bin file needs some sort of read software that can open the individual files on the compact flash card so I can add to the program/alter without having to start back at the original file that was drug onto the card.

    HELP ME PLEASE!

Id agree with Disarray you're making it far to complicated
If its its already in cnc memory output it as a text then you can open and edit it in any package

    Hi,

Program is not stored in memory but only on PCMCIA-card, on my 0i-MF it doesn't work from USB.
When you make changes on the machine you can read the BIN-file back on PC.
Open the FANUCPRG.BIN on your PC from card, then you can see the programs in the BIN-file.

Drag and drop them on your desktopscreen or in a folder and you can open them.

    Regards,
    Heavy_Metal.

Compact flash memory is only stored on the card, it's fanucs way of working around having no memory. You cant output files from flash card memory.

    Hi Machinistsss,

Upload your FANUCPRG.BIN file then I will try to "unlock" it for you or send me your e-mail by private message.

Thank you for the offer, but I can't send all my programs to a stranger. I know the card is formatted correctly and it runs fine on the machine. Any idea why it won't let me drag back to the desktop?

    Hi Machinistsss,

    OK, I understand that.
Try it with my test FANUCPRG.BIN file, it contains 2 Cimco-Edit sample files.
    I can't upload BIN-files so I put it into a zip-file.
Or make a simple BIN-file for me to try and upload it.

    Regards,
    Heavy_Metal.

    Hi Machinistsss,

You send a O0001 file but not a FANUCPRG.BIN file.
When I open the O0001 file with WordPad it results in:

    %
    O0001
    (TEST OF MEMORY CARD FUNCTIONALITY)
    G0 X6. Y6. Z6.
    (END OF TEST)
    %

I need a FANUCPRG.BIN-file from you to try with the --- FANUC Memory Program Tool !!!

    Regards,
    Heavy_Metal.

    Look at the attachment.

Maybe my PC editing CD is messed up, I can't get it to drag to desktop. I was 99.9% sure I was doing everything right. I guess I'm going to have to wait for fanuc to reply with a fix. Fingers crossed.

    Hi Machinistsss,

Do you start/run the Fanuc Program Tool from CD or from PC ???
The CD contains only 3 files:

2 pdf manuals (400kb), English and I think Chinese
    1 EXE.file, FANUCPRG.exe (600kb)

    Check your private message !

    Regards,
    Heavy_Metal.

It works with only CF cards?
You tried it on 0MD or 0MC ?

    Hi,

Yep, it works only on CF-Card (PCMCIA-slot).
We have a FANUC 0i-MF but it works also on the 0i-MD, maybe also on the 0i-MC, not the 0-Model C or 0-Model D.
    What control do you have.

    Regards,
    Heavy_Metal.
