Hi guys, i hope somebody can solve my doubt. I bought a tipical chinese spindle for my new cnc build, and when open it for adding a wire for ground the body, found that internall wires are too thin. I was thinking about use 14 awg shieldied wire from VFD to spindle , but after see the size of internal wire I have the doubt about how much sense have it if the internal wire looks like a 18 awg.


I took a picture , the green wire is a 14 awg that i added for ground the body.


What do you think? have sense use 14 awg wire or is just a waste if the internal wire is so thin?

Use the thicker wire! The resistance on smaller wire over a few inches isn't a big deal (as long as it can handle the current) but the voltage drop due to the resistance you could get on 10-20 feet of thin wire might make a difference.
