How are these vectors open and how can i fix them

I dont really understand this part of the software. I have imported a DXF and i want to v carve it but i cant get the open vectors to close.

Can anyone take a look at the file and maybe help me understand what i need to do?

Wellll... You wil have to work a little bit more on your owl if you want to v-carve it.
Here I added more layers and marked problematic areas: http://zastos.com/Storage/New.crv3d
For you to be able to v-carve a model, all areas that the cutter has to carve/clean has to be closed.

Thank you. I have correct some more of the vectors. i dont understand why some are still classed as open and what is the best way to close them?

A closed vector is one with it's start and end nodes being the same.

In the attached vector, the single line on the upper left needs to be trimmed away in order to close it.

Think if a closed vector like this. If you are drawing a shape with a pencil and paper, the end of the shape must end exactly where you started, and the lines can not overlap anywhere.

V Carving works by keeping the tool inside the vector.
When V carving something like this owl, each enclosed area needs to be it's own closed vector. Two adjacent closed vectors that share an edge, would have overlapping vectors. To avoid problems, these should be on separate layers, are toolpaths created separately from any adjoining vectors.

My recommendation would be to copy the original vectors several times, to separate layers. Then, on each layer, isolate each enclosed shape by trimming away everything else, and making sure each is closed. Then copy them back together.

Re: How are these vectors open and how can i fix them

one of the features I like in Cambam is that you can step thru each object in a layer. So if you have small dots randomly located somewhere, and you click on the object (in a list of objects) you can tell immediately when nothing highlights that it is something that can be deleted. no such feature exists in Cut2D. So i guess you are left with Gerry's tip of copying the objects to a new layer or drawing. hopefully the dots, which are open vectors, are not copied.
Select all open vectors doesn't work because you can't see the highlights. Let me know if anyone has a better way to delete random and small open objects in Vectric cut2D.

There are no "dots" in vectors. Vectors consists of starting point, direction and intensity.
And Gerry showed an example of open vector(s). That vector can not be VCarved.
I amnot willing to "remodel" the OP's drawing to be suitable for VCarving.
Learning is a time consuming process. If you want to make something, you have to learn how to use tools.

I figured it out. Left click, select all objects. Then right click, selection>select all open vectors. then Delete. Do this after you close all valuable vector shapes.

The vast majority of the work involved is in creating all the new closed shapes.
Getting rid of the open and unusable vectors was the easy part.

Yes but in my case I’m importing dxf from some other source. I’m using cut2d to clean it up, close all shapes and post gcode for cutting.
