    Troubleshooting

    Trying to start up a 4 axis K2 that was in storage for about 5 years.
    It was running when it was stored.

    I believe all the Mach 3 settings are correct.
    Power comes on, enable works, axis motors are under power.
    All four homing switches are seen in diagnostics as well as e-stop.
    However, when jogging or homing it thinks it's moving but it isn't.

    The laptop that ran it has been replaced with a desktop.
    Parallel cable replaced. One cat5 that got pinched was replaced.
    Checked power supply and it puts out 24 volts AC.
    That goes to a bridge rectifier and comes out as 33VDC which I've been told is correct.
    (I only learn EE stuff when I need to)
    How that's ok to run a 24vdc motor though escapes me.
    What does the USB connection do? I'm guessing 5 volts?

    Any help?

    What OS are you running on that computer? If you're using the parallel port, you can't run a 64-bit version of Windows. Also, you might check in BIOS to see if your LPT port is in EPP mode.

    It's a 32 bit xp. I knew about that requirement.
    Bios was in ECP\EPP mode.
    Switched it to EPP mode then there were two choices of EPP1.7 and EPP1.9.
    Tried both, no dice. Also set for 328 by the way.

    Got it going.
    I played with some of the output switches in the software.
    For some reason my friend missed changing those.
    That's two days I won't get back!

    Another question for those that have servo motors and ballscrews what is the steps per inch number in config/ motor tuning?
    I took a few measurements and the motion was off a bit. Looked up the specs on the encoder and it says it's resolution is set with dip switches.
    Highest resolution is 1024/ revolution. 2 to 1 pulleys and 5 threads per inch ballscrew = 10240 steps per inch. My settings say 10160.
    Anybody?
