    Quick help Wiring Encoder

    Hi,

Anyone one know where this extra ground goes on this D-808 encoder? Not mentioned on the lead specs or the encoder wiring diagrams (common Gnd?), blue & black have been swapped over since picture, see below..

EGND normally means Earth Ground and if so should be connected to the service ground conductor, it should not be used for current carrying conductor.

    hmm,

The encoder cable goes to motor via the port end, wiring diagram doesn't show this 2nd common that's a larger gauge wire. There is no continuity of this to the outer port housing.

    Any ideas anyone?

Sorted, just checked with the supplier, The extra black wire that is thicker than the other 6 encoder wires is in fact the shield for the cable and should be earthed to prevent interference.

Your wiring does not match the diagram... Black and blue are transposed.
