So, I'm about to order 5 meters of belt. I'm going with 25mm wide for my application. I'm currently looking at HTD5M or HTD8M. I know the number is the pitch. I found some good prices. I'm having a harder time finding a pulley.

At 25mm wide, is there a different belt type that may have more pulley options (inexpensive options).

This is not high speed. Just weight and a long run.

No point in getting inexpensive belt and having to pay $$$ for a custom pulley.

If you'll give me the specs, I'll try to help you spec the correct one. Wading through their catalog can be a little daunting.

Just curious if the 25mm width will be enough to account for the weight of the head and possible stretch over time. Clay is heavy - yes? If the height is 2 metres that's about a 4 metre length if its a full loop.

The belt would be under constant tension - right?

I may be way off base but your machine sounds like its either a clay additive or is it for shaping clay on the rotary table?

Would love to see some detailed photos or sketches.

Jim, I'll definitely take you up on your offer in help with selection when I have things figured out more. I have the motors coming in. I'm going to order the belt. I need to feel everything and see how close I am from my design.

And Harry, I will definitely follow up here on my build. Everyone here has been so helpful and supportive. The printer has a RAM extruder like a big syringe to extrude the clay.
