    Materials for laser engraving/Cutting

    Hello All

sorry if this is in the wrong place, or been posted before (I couldnt find anything)

Im a new owner of a 30 watt laser and been looking into buying materials for it in the uk.

Romark and troteck sell laser grade materials, and with regard to single ply acrylics there blurb says for a laser you should buy from them and not unbranded acrylics (which are much cheeper), that their stuff give better cuts, butter engraving etc.

So is there a real differnce? are there things i should look out for? I know i have to avoid vinyl and pvc stuff.

Is it the same with there woods etc?

    Thanks

    Kyron

So long as you buy a quality (name brand) acrylic, I don't think you'll have a problem. You should be aware of the differences between extruded and cast acrylic. Extruded smells quite a bit worse than cast and extruded seems more prone to crazing when cut edges are glued, though that just may be me.
