Most popular CADs for wood working - new at this

Please excuse my newbie ignorance. What is the/are the most popular CAD programs for woodworking. My specific project will be a 12"x12" 1' thick piece of wood that will have terrain features (small detailed mountains/river valleys etc) carved into it. I will likely use the BobsCNC E3 table on amazon. Can sketchup bend to my will?

Why do you want to do this?

Perhaps if you explain, with some details, more folks can recommend appropriate things for you and your intentions.

Vectric software is probably the most popular.
V Carve Pro can import an .stl model of the terrain. You may need 1 or two other programs to get the terrain into an .stl format.

I don't think Sketchup will do what you want; it's mostly for designing simple blocky things. Where are you getting the terrain models, and what format are they coming in as?
