    Question Need help wiring VFD to UB1 breakout board

    Hi everyone,

    I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice how to wire my Siemens Micromaster 440 to my UB1 breakout board (UC300ETH) so I am able to control the speed with the analog output.
    Please find attached two pictures.

    I would connect:
    Micromaster UB1
    +10V ---------> AH1
    ADC1- ----------> AL1
    ADC1+ ---------> AO1
    0V to ADC1-

    Is this correct? What does the ? 4.7 k? in the Micromaster picture mean?

    Kind regards

    4.7k is for an external pot, if using a system with a analogue output, then it would be A01 & AL1 if your board requires a supply, then you would connect the AH1.

    Thank you very much for your reply. Good to know that 4.7k is for an external potentiometer.
    Ok then the correct wiring should be just:
    Micromaster UB1
    +10V ---------> AH1
    ADC1- ----------> AL1
    ADC1+ ---------> AO1

    Re: Need help wiring VFD to UB1 breakout board

    It does not seem to work. Could it be possible that I have to connect pin 2 of the VFD (0 V) too?

    Parameter P1000 = 2 which means ADC setpoint

    Thank you very much for your help!

    Use pin2 in place of pin4.

    Did you start the VFD at all? All VFDs need a start signal, it can be an digital input of the VFD or a command (button press) on the control panel of the VFD.
    You can program the start signal source usually in a parameter of the VFD.
    It will not start with just the analog signal!

    Yes it starts when I use the M3 command in UCCNC or hit the button on the UCCNC GUI. Also reverse is working. But it is only running with the minimum frequency of 30 Hz (minimum frequency parameter). I get ~48Hz when I connect pin 2 and pin 4.

    Measure the voltage coming from the UB1 and make sure it's correct.

    Re: Need help wiring VFD to UB1 breakout board

    I'm running the UC300 + UB1 and trying to get speed control of my VFD. It will start/stop with the K2 relay but the 12v sent to AH1 comes out of AO1 regardless of whether the spindle is on or off and does not change with speed. Any ideas why?

    Curious to know how you end up connecting it. Please update the thread once you have a solution from CNC Room. Thanks

    My problem was in the wiring harness. The V+ from the VFD was lost before making it to the UB1.

    Re: Need help wiring VFD to UB1 breakout board

    I was also able to solve my problem thanks to the support from cncroom! I had minimum frequency at 50 Hz, maximum frequency at 200 Hz, but parameter 2000 was also at 50 Hz. So it was not possible to change the frequency to anything else than 50 Hz. Now everything works like a charm
    I recommend everyone to first use a potentiometer until everything works.

    Kind regards
