ISO20 or ISO30 Headstock For Sherline

I'm in the middle of designing a new headstock that will fit both the Sherline & Taig mill. I already make the R8 version and use it with the Tormach Tooling System...but, i would like to now make ISO20 and/or ISO30 headstocks for use as ATC or just quick change tooling. What would you guys prefer...20 or 20 taper?

The headstock style for the 20 or 30 taper will be the same as the R8 https://glockcnc.com/store/#!/Sherli...tegory=8597973

ISO 20 is perfect for this size of machine......
Since I have the older style of headstock on my Taig mill....
Are you designing the spindle so it can be Retrofitted????

The ISO20 taper might be able to use the same headstock casing. The 30 taper will require a larger headstock casing to accomodate larger bearings. We want the taper further up in the bearing to maximize Z axis.

The big problem with ISO20 is the availability of cheap tooling...….ISO30 is more common.

I have ISO20 in my Skyfire SVM-0 mill spindle and bought 10 tool holders with ER32 chucks with the machine.

If I had a choice I would definitely go for ISO30...….availability of tooling being the main concern......there is stuff out there but due to less user purchases it cost a bomb.

+1 for ISO30 It's far more common and ISO30 collets are available (metric only though), that I find handy to gain a little more headroom:- https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...17f94c4dO0Qv6V

If you've got room for an ISO30 why not BT30? At least in the states the BT30 tool holders seem even more available than ISO. I'm switching from an ISO10 to BT30 on my machine for exactly that reason, even though it's a little large for this size of machine.

Ok, so we've decided to go with BT30 and we're now doing the pre-sale offer with free bonus upgrades. You can check it all out here: https://glockcnc.com/bt30-taig-sherline-headstock/
