Can contour's shuttleXpress be programed to work in place of Tormach's jog shuttle
Can contour's shuttleXpress be programed to work in place of Tormach's jog shuttle
It's exactly the same AFAIK, tormach just has their name stenciled on it.
I use one (the express) on my lathe as well as the shuttle on the mill. Have also used the shuttle pro on hte mill but found it awkward with too many buttons

I am using https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0032Y0OH0 and it works perfectly.
I bought an aftermarket shuttle express, its still in the box, the original is still working after almost 7 years.

On this topic, I've looked at the ShuttleXpress, and used it in the past, but I don't like it.
I could use a pendant that had functions for:
- separate traverse for X, Y, and Z, ideally small wheels but sticks are OK -- the modal single dial is terrible
- stop
- run
- feedhold
- step/rapid mode switch
- step size toggle
- zero for x/y/z
No more buttons than that! And fewer (start removing buttons from the bottom) would be OK.
Is there a pendant like this? (Obviously, plug-and-play with PathPilot without having to patch it every update would be vastly preferrable.)
I am not aware of anything although there are several pendants that require patches.
I have split the functions for my purposes: The stop/run/feedhold are provided with a box that emulates a keyboard so no patches are required. I wrote an article giving full details in the Spring 2018 issue of Digital Machinist Magazine.
I put my jog shuttle in a sealed housing so I no longer worry about it jamming with chips. I don't find the single rotary dial a problem. I just wish that it had buttons to zero the axis!
