    Machine seems to actually work now... What now?

    So I had my Partner 1 sitting in my garage for almost 10 months now. After replacing the X axis cable today, it seems to be functioning.

    The problem is, I have no idea on how to operate the machine or to check if everything is actually functioning correctly. Is there a series of check i can go through to see if the machine will operate?

    I am not sure on how to turn on the spindle to see if it will operate, or jog the X, Y, and Z axis. Is there somewhere I can look for basic instructions on operating the machine? I have Centurion V controller.

    I want to start with writing very basic programs in MDI/conversational mode to learn the system before trying to run an actual program. As I am learning to use CAM software currently.

    Turn on the spindle: MDI, type in M03 S1000 input and then hit the start button. After you do that the first time after power up, you can use the spindle CW and CCW buttons.

    Move an Axis in rapid: G00 X-10, input, then hit start.

    Move an axis in feed rate: G01 X-10 F20., input, then start.

    You will need to learn to get tool dimensions, G54 (home position on the part) and aa host of other things. As for the conversational side, I really don't use mine so others will have to give comments there. Do you have the operators manual? It has all sorts of programming examples.

    Awesome thank you. I was able to get the spindle to turn for the first time! Might not sound like much. But it's a big step forward for me.

    One thing though. When homing the machine, only the Z axis homed. Nothing else moved. Not sure why? Even the screen read "Homing Z axis". Nothing mentioned about X or Y.

    Yes I have tooling, Vice, tool holders, etc. Just waiting to be used. I want to get a good grip on operating the controller before I attempt to make a part though.

    There are parameters in the machine for which axis homes and in what order. I have mine set to home as it should, to the home switches, but it wouldn't be the first time I've seen a machine where all they do is home Z and then just set 0,0 in X and Y wherever the corner of the part is and work from there. You have to type on a password to get into the parameters, can't remember as I have it written down outside, but "Proto" and then "3" comes to mind.

    I think I found this area to set the home sequence. Only the Z axis had something in this setting. I think it was 90. I believe it's supposed to be:

    X - 88, Y - 89, Z - 90

    Correct?

    I think it's in parms-control homing sequence

    Should be
    Z=1
    X=2
    Y=2

    Never dawned on me I could have x and y home at the same time. Mines Z X Y in that order.
