    adding inertia dampeners on nema34

    hi everyone,

i have a plasma table with nema34 motors on it.
these have at certain speed vibrations.
i would like to add some inertia dampener to help that.
here's where i got the idea from:
    https://www.cnczone.com/forums/stepp...er-damper.html

issue is that my stepper motors only have 1 shaft.
the back of the motor has a round detent of 30mm in diameter and about 3mm deep.
at the bottom of this detent there is a thin plate (i can see it move when i push on it).
    here's a picture:

does anybody know if it's possible to attach a dampener to this motor
this is what i wanna add to the motor:

does anyone know what there is behind the thin plate?
could i attach the dampener to whatever there is?

    thank you

Why not trying a stepper drive with mid-band resonance damping? I mean that is also a solution for your problem.
I think the dampener will only shift the resonance band, it will not likely to fully resolve the issue.

i bought the table from a company who made the machine, but they are no longer in buissines.
i don't have the know how to install new drivers.
on the thread i linkend to alot of people have really great result, seems like it's worth a try.

There may be a preload spring or something in there. Modifying the motor seems quite risky to me. I think I'd replace the motors with equivalent dual shaft motors, or upgrade the drives. There may be drop-in replacements for the drives available, stepper drives are fairly interchangeable.
