Guys,

I have a mockup of a CNC router I am thinking about. I wanted to tuck the gantry motor behind the gantry, and run a belt between the motor and the ballscrew (1605). Take a look at the pics. The ballscrew is fixed to the gantry with a pretty common WB1K12 bearing block. You can see the gross difference in height between the motor shaft and the ballscrew.

What sort of design tricks to you do to get the shafts closer in height? Thanks!

It never occurred to me to check, but it turns out you can turn the WBK12 (some call it FK12) bearing around, and in this case I could do that by putting the bearing inside the gantry to reduce the height of the ballscrew end. With a spacer between the gantry and the bearing I could shorten this even more, perhaps even to the point where the ballscrew end and the motor shaft are equal in height.
