error "3 too many digits" ? Conquest T42

I'm making progress, computer talking to the machine, first pass at the post processor is done.

I'm getting an error "3 too many digits". I think this has something to do with the a feedrate. I've seen other people have had the same error with mill controllers and fixed it by changing 1404.2 parameter on the controller. I have an 18T controller and this parameter doesn't exist. Any ideas?

Is the G code set to G95 (feed / rev) or G94 (feed/min) ? For that feed rate it should be G95

Ignore my previous comment about the problem. I'm clearly out of my wheelhouse guessing at what the actual problem is. Can you scan through the code and see if anything sticks out as having too many digits?

G99 and G98 seems to be used for IPM vs IPR, I am getting conflicting information. One source says G95, G96, but my book says G99, G98, so going with the book.

    I corrected the post above.

    Thanks!!!!

That didn't work. Is there a way for me to determine which line of code causes the problem from the controller?

    Not that know of.

One more thing to try is to look at parameter 910, bit 4, if it exists in your system. That parameter is Feed Digits, or something like that. I think the options are 0 and 1

Like I said in another thread, there is a reason I ripped everything out of my lathe that said Fanuc on it.

I'm starting to agree with you. I will try that next.

Now the memory is full on the controller. I tried to delete some of the old programs but I get an error. "WRONG FORMAT". These things are a little cranky.... aren't they????

Yup, very cranky. As I recall we never did make any chips with the Fanuc controls, just a couple dry runs. I think we screwed around with the Fanuc controls for about 2 weeks before we had enough screwing around.
