I'm a bit dubious whether a 3040 is worth tarting up at all unless you can get the parts for practically nothing?
It seems a lot of cost and effort for very little return, as the 3040's inherently are generally a far less robust design than the 6040's.
I would think going the 6040 route with decent rails and drivescrews would be the far better option? The 6040 will take a decent spindle while having enough rigidity and grunt to get work done.
It's rumoured that everytime someone buys a TB6560 based board, an engineer cries!
