    6040 Mach3

    Hi Guys,
I recently purchased a CNC 6040 with controller having parallel port connector.
I also received parallel to USB cable which I use to run the CNC using USBCNC controller.
My question is if I use Mach3 software with the same setup, i.e. with the parallel to USB converter cable.

I have seen a tutorial on the ChinaCNCZone website on running Mach3 using a controller with USB port.
After following the similar step, I couldn't manage to jog the machine. In fact Mach3 doesn't even connect to the controller.

    Kindly suggest.

Mach3 can use certain usb controllers, however you'll probably find that the one supplied is for another type of controller software such as you said - USBCNC.

Ethernet motion controllers are usually pretty good (But expensive), USB - not so good and almost as expensive.

Parallel connections are usually the best and cheapest way with mach3. Older PC's using windows 7 is usually the best way to go.
