    Limiting cut path

    Hi All,

I'm Terry, I don't normally post here, I spend most of my time on the Tormach forum, but I have Fusion 360 question that has me stumped.

I am working with some small AL blocks (4" sq by 1/2") that already have the edges finished. However I want to add a 1/2" radius fillet to one corner.

I am trying to use a 2D contour to make the cut, but what I can't figure is how to limit the tool path to just the radius of the fillet, it wants to cut the entire perimeter of the block, which in not only not needed but makes clamping a problem.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Re: Limiting cut path

Hi Terry, hope this helps you a little, see images below:-

On the simple block I created I "Double Clicked" on the edge I wanted to cut, a thin blue line appears on that edge and the rest are black and also the "open/closed" contour option appears, image 1.

Next I selected the "open" contour option

Next I clicked on the Green "+" symbol to accept the "open" contour option and this is what I get

Now I am able to cut only the edge I required, give it a try, my little sample Fusion 360 file is attached in a Zip file. Simulation image added

    Enjoy

    Regards
    Rob

You can also hold the ALT key and select one side or line at a time. I didn't know you could double click and do the same thing.

Thanks David, that works as well, maybe that's how I got in trouble. I vaguely remembered it should be doable, but I kept trying to us the Control key instead of Alt, and of course that didn't work!
