    DXF to G Code Converter

Is there such a thing as a DXF converter to G code converter? I want to take DXF files from our engineers and be able to convert it to G code so that I can edit it and move things around. I don't really want to edit it as a DXF file on the Haas itself. We make heat exchangers here and these are tube hole patterns. Just X and Y locations. Usually 300 to 500 holes in a pattern. I currently use a old DOS program that was created for making patterns and would give me all the hole locations in X and Y. but that setup is on it's last leg and I'm looking for another way to do this.
    thanks for any help.

Yes, it is very available. It's called a CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) program. Look at Fusion 360 by AutoDesk, full professional CAD/CAM package, free to hobbyists, startups, and educators/students, inexpensive for established shops. Another very simple option is CamBam. Either of these programs will allow editing a DXF file, but the CamBam drawing editor is a bit clunky.

You really want to bring the DXF into a drafting (CAD) program, then process with the CAM program to generate the G code.

EDIT: What is it that you are needing to move around in G code? Are you actually modifying the engineered hole locations?

Re: DXF to G Code Converter

Our KipwareM will read the DXF file ... you don't even have to load it into anything ... and grab every POINT location as a hole position.
It will then display a conversational ( fill in the blank ) form where you can input the hole machining parameters ... speed, feed, type of cycle, peck depth etc. etc. ... and will then auto-create the G code program.
Sounds like it might be exactly what you are looking for ... here's the link :

Here is a little more specific blog post link :

    Thank you ...

I expect every CAD/CAM software will open up Autocad's DXF and DWG files. Mastercam certainly does. But you have to do the grunt work of creating the g-code as it will not automatically do it.
