    Changing encoders

    Hi,

    A noob question.
What changes will be needed if I replace the existing encoder on an old servo motor with either 16 or 20 bit one?

Do I need to change the servo drive as well? What else should I take into consideration?

Thank you for much for any input!

    Re: Changing encoders

Need more specifics. If it's an AC servo, you would probably need one that is specifically compatible with the drive. If it's a DC servo, it depends on the drive.
