It's been a long haul but I finally got the T42 up and running. I've done some pretty basic parts and its holding super tight tolerances.
I'm now starting to play with the live tooling. While drilling and tapping, I noticed some grease coming out of the live tools. Some more than others. I looked at the drawings of the live tools in my manual and it seems there are no seals in these tools to keep the grease in and/or coolant out.
I noticed the live tools have a tag to grease daily. I think I've put two and two together here. I'm assuming the grease is indeed not sealed and should be greased daily to purge the innards of the tool of foreign debris. Much like the lube system on the ways of this machine. My thinking is this. If the tool was indeed sealed, the seal would become compromised if you greased it every day.
I would love to hear your thoughts.
