    VFD For CNC Mill belt drive conversion

    I am looking at driving a PM727M with a Lesson motor(192266):

    Wall Voltage either 110/220: Likely I will end up running 220 to the garage, but don't have it yet.

    Volts 230
    F.L. Amps 2.8
    S. F Amps 3.2
    RPM 3600
    HP 1
    KW 0.75

    What VFD would you recommend on a budget?

    Thank you,
    Tim

    I need to sell a 1.5 KW VFD that is a Huanyang Clone. After realizing it was a clone, I thought I had been had, but after figuring out how to wire it up it works as well as the Huanyang 2.2 KW VFD I purchased later. I only still use the later one because it’s 2.2kW instead of 1.5kW to run my 3HP spindle which is also 2.2 kW. Whatever you decide to get make sure you set the correct frequency. I initially set mine at 50 and burned up my spindle. My VFD needed to be set to 400 Hz.

    I'm curious, why would you use a 2 pole (3600 rpm) motor on a mill? You can get twice the torque with a 4 pole motor (1800 rpm) and still run it at 3600 RPM with a VFD. The Lesson 4 pole should be able to run at about 4500 RPM with no problem, but check the max RPM specs to be sure.

    You really want a sensorless vector control VFD, and definitely 230V.

    You did not learn much, the VFD Drive for your 2.2Kw spindle should of been 3Kw minimum when using single phase you have to have a VFD at least 1Hp larger than your motor / spindle you are driving, there are some VFD Drives that are rated for single phase use these can use the same size motor / spindle rating as the VFD Drve

    Here is a VFD Drive that will drive you motor it is rated for 120v input 220v output 1Hp Teco L510 there are some others but no many that are 120v rated

    Just make sure you get the 120v VFD Drive as they come in 240v also
