We have a 4ft x 8ft Bodor-built laser we have been using in production for our light fixtures. We had some problems with the laser coming down, starting a path but not firing fully on the metal settings. It would run around and just sparkle or after a few inches fire full power but not cut cleanly. We contacted Bodor and got great tech support. They walked us through all sorts of settings. It took a bit of time to dial it all in and diagnose but they were committed and worked with us step by step.

For anyone looking to short cut this process if you run into this problem, for us it was not a controller issue as we thought, but it ended up being a function of the auto-height follow settings and the pierce delay not being set correctly. We had to add a delay of up to 6mms after piercing before starting the cut. That was set in the MetalCut software. The next issue was resetting the auto height sensor height to 3mm so it was closer to the sheet. It was a weird problem to diagnose. We thought it was in the laser, or the two power supplies controlling it but it ended up being a settings issue.

We never would have figured that out without their help.
