    CW8060 connection

    Hi,
    I am new here.
Can anyone help me to connect CW8060 driver to the breakout board?
    CP+
    CP-
    CW+
    CW-
    EN+
    EN-
    ?

    Thanks!

    Re: CW8060 connection

once you deside if your going to use a common +5V connection to CP+ , CW+ & EN+ or common -5V connection to CP- , CW- & EN- to the CW8060 stepper drivers

assuming your using Mach 3 in pins and ports you will need to assign the function of the BOB output pins P4 to P9 and pins P16 & P17

by default if you don't connect the stepper driver enable terminals (EN + EN-) the driver will be enabled

so the minimum connections to the driver is the common +5V or 0V , clock pulse CP and Direction CW

for a 4 axis machine you could make

    P9 the X axis CP P8 X axis CW

    P7 the Y axis CP P6 Y axis CW

    P5 the Z axis CP P4 Z axis CW

    P17 the A axis CP P16 A axis CW

    Re: CW8060 connection

After wiring like this, all is ok and not.
Some times motors run some times not, when push Jog +/-.
    Or run X + and Z + or Z- not..etc
I have to play many times with all X+-/Y+-/Z+- Joging to get some movements from motors.
I've measured 5V pin and get me 2.4V.
    Could be this a problem?

when did you measure 2.4V on a pin ?

    assuming your using a multimeter

you will see the direction pin toggle between 0V & 5V as you change direction

while jogging , the step pin will switch between 0V & 5V so fast the meter will
    display the average voltage

if the pin is at 0V 50% of the time the voltage displayed will be about 2.5V

    Re: CW8060 connection

    Thanks guys.

1.In the John's "BOB to driver connections.jpg" above, CP+, CW+ go to + 5V but in the "automationtehnologies" pdf wiring, CP+ and CW+ go to GND.
    Wich one to consider ok?
    2. I still have the problems with the stepper motors:
Some times motors run some times not, when push Jog +/-.
    Or run X + and Z + or Z- not..etc
I have to play many times with all X+-/Y+-/Z+- Joging to get some movements from motors.

My actual connection is CP+ , CW +, EN+ go to +5V, CP- to pin 4, CW to pin 5, EN- to pin 16 for X axis for example
In Mach3, Dir and Step are set as LowActive and Enable1 is also Active Low

When measure with multimeter between GND and pin 4 (as example) it give me 2,4 V even if I am joging in + or -. So when jog the 2.4V is the same value

    Any ideas?

    I measured

    Thanks

for the LED inside of an opto-isolator use in the stepper drivers to light
the anode has to be made positive with respect to the cathode

the volt drop across the LED depends on the colour
for a red LED the volt drop will be about 1.8V

with a 5VDC supply to the driver step , direction & enaple inputs
the 270 ohm resistor will limit the LED current to about 12mA

    I've solved the problems!
I didn't know that the breakoutboard it should be connected also to USB computer in order to get +5V )

    Thanks guys
