    skate bearing dust problems??

For those of you that have or had a skate bearing machine do you or did you have issues with dust collecting on the rails and bearings and causing issues like stalling and rumbly movement?
If so, have you fixed it and how?
    Thanks

The CNCRP skate bearing carriages are very intolerant of dust, as it doesn't take much to cause binding.
My skate bearings roll on round pipe, which is much more forgiving, but not quite as rigid.

You may be able to fabricate some felt "wipers" to clean the rails ahead of the bearings? Adding oil to the felt also lubricates as it cleans.
You could also add some type of brush to clean them.

Hes not talking about dust IN the bearings, but the bearings rolling over dust and chips.

It does not take long for the bearing like this to jam up with dust if they are not 2RS type shielded Bearings, he needs to know all the problems with this type of rail system you covered only one part I cover the other part

the bearings are double shielded. I have been running them for 4 years without issue of the bearing themselves. Rails and outside of the bearing race can buildup packed dust, so keeping them clean will make the machine work better.

crp sells, or did sell a kit that adds brushes to either side of the bearing carriers. I use them on my router, still have to clean the rails with a brass brush occasionally but no where near like before the brushes.

Yes well there is a difference between Bearing double shield types ZZ shields are ( 2 ) metal shields which are very common which don't seal the bearings completely, then there are 2RS which are ( 2 ) rubber seals, so the wording Double Shielded is not correct as there are more than (1 ) type of shield each has it's own name and is part of the Bearing standard ISO part number

The Bearings you have are 2RS, this type of Bearing was never designed to be used like this, as the outer Bearing race is quite thin and can crack quite easy with any over loading, as it is not contained like it should be, there are special Bearings called cam followers that can be used for this kind of rolling motion, with no worry of over loading
