I have been fighting this for 10 months. Machine has Siemens motors and drives. it's a 1.25 overdrive motor to spindle.
The spindle drive computer box in the back is reading the spindle motor wrong. When you bring up parameter 140, which is the spindle location number, it loses .4 of one number for every revolution clockwise. one turn is 1638 numbers. so if you turn it by hand 100 turns the number in parameter loses 40. if you turn it backwards it gains 40 in 100 turns.
if you press the orient spindle button it goes to 1573. then run the motor for about 10 seconds and bring the spindle back to the orient position by hand the number will be less by about 75, like 1500. then hit the spindle orient button and it resets the number back to 1573
I have mistakenly cleared all the parameters on the drive and had to re enter all the parameters to the stuff Hurco emailed me. I have tried another spindle motor encoder with the same exact result. also this machine has a spindle prox. sensor and I have moved it around with no change.
when I do the orient button it comes up with a " AET ERROR ON SELECTED OPERATION SPINDLE FAULT-ORIENT ERROR"
We got this machine well used, and I have no idea what the original parameters were set to. When I followed the papers Hurco sent me at one point it reset all to factory default. I feel like there is one of the parameters that needs some adjustment, it's like it figures the ratio wrong. My math says it's reading .02% less than it should.
I can't do a tool change or rigid tap with it as is. all the Hurco people have been helpful but tell me I have to get with Siemens for help.
Can anyone help or know someone at Siemens to call?
