Trumpf L3030 4kW nitrogen high consumption

    Hi,

Company bought an old and beat up Trumpf L3030 4kW laser cutter and through hard work we got it working, but we are having some problems.

We have cut 10 sheets (3000x1500mm - 1 sheet, thicknesses 4-10 mm ) and used up 1200 litres of nitrogen. We don't cut with nitrogen only with oxygen. There doesn't seem to be a leakage from the source but the laser cutter head is whistling pretty badly when cutting and even when not cutting.

Any advice what could be the problem?
    Thanks

    Hi,

I guess it's very hard to diagnose the problem without knowing all the parameters and exact amount of sheets cut (with thicknesses accounted for). And the fact that there seems to be a leak from cutting head or is it normal that nitrogen is constantly flowing?

The amount of gasses consumed seems to be too much considering the cost of gasses and the prices of laser cutting.

What would be the normal consumption of nitrogen, oxygen and CO2 for Trumpf L3030 4kW? In real life not what is written in the manual. Taking into account that cutting gas is oxygen.

    Thanks
