    Exclamation Breakout Board Wiring

    Hi,

I am building a CNC Router, and having a small problem figuring out the breakout board wiring,if anyone could help!

I am using the CW5045 Stepper Driver, with a cheap breakout board and the UC400ETH.

On the CW5045 - I am jumping the Pul+ and Dir+ and running that to the PC5V+ on the breakout board; and running Pul- and Dir- to the X-Axis Inputs (See Diagram attached).

I am powering the breakout board from a 12V supply

    My question is;
Where should I run the PCGND to?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Where do you get the 5Volts from? The (PC 5V) terminal, where does that voltage is coming from?

Yes, you also need to supply 5V to that board, either from a separate supply, or through the USB cable.
If you use a USB cable, then you don't connect anything to the PC Ground terminal.
If you use a 5V supply, you wire the negative terminal to PC ground.

    Ah thank you!

I had assumed the 5V voltage output was stepped down from the 12V in. (Sorry, new to this)

I will run the USB cable aswel so. Thanks again.

With this board the PCGND is the ground of the 12V power supply powering the UC400ETH, because it is the ground of the step and direction and other signals which are not isolated on this BOB.
If you connect 5Volts to the USB port of this BOB then you make the PC ground and the UC400ETH ground the same potential.
This is not a good idea, because you will loose the advantage of the ethernet being an isolated connection.
You should use an external 5V PSU connected to the USB port of the BOB is the best solution IMO.
I.e. cut a USB cable and connect the 5V to it's power wired (5V and GND).
