    Advanced CNC machinist, Tool and Die in a 68°F lab environment

    Peak Nano has an immediate opening for a highly talented CNC and manual machinist with strong problem-solving skills, outstanding people skills and exceptional experience as a process and tooling development machinist within our manufacturing operations. Peak Nano is focused on developing and delivering innovative, disruptive solutions to the optical lens market. Located in Valley View, OH, the Machinist will work closely with Peak Nano Manufacturing and Engineering leadership to ensure high quality, efficient production of optical lenses. This key individual will assist Peak in the development of near net shape machining of polymer products within the production facility including all fixturing, tooling, molds, tool & die, etc. Responsibilities include assisting in development of processes essential to meeting production schedule and delivery of high-quality products.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Manage CNC machining process in conjunction with multi-process polymer
    extrusion, thermoforming, diamond turning lines.
    • Develop and implement technical solutions through hands-on
    experimentation/problem-solving of production and/or production control issues.
    • Accurately set-up, program, and operate 3 axis CNC mills and lathes, both
    horizontal and vertical, to produce complex molds and dies. Injection mold tooling
    experience is preferred.
    • Programming of all equipment using MasterCAM software
    • Fabricate necessary fixturing and tooling in support of engineering teams.
    • Open and continuous communication regarding issues, recommendations and
    solutions being implemented to resolve equipment and/or process problems
    • Write and revise SOPs as needed.
    • Providing training and assessment support for equipment operation and set-up as
    needed
    • Perform 5S activities and control flow of materials using standardized work
    • Lead by example in the area of safety behaviours by promoting safe work habits.
    Report safety problems immediately and operate equipment safely
    • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving on machining equipment as
    necessary.
    • Perform preventative maintenance on shop equipment as necessary.
    Qualifications:
    • 7+ years’ experience in the manufacturing industry, with significant presence in all
    aspects of complex machining and tool making (permanent molds, patterns, cast
    and mold dies). Preference will be given to candidates with expertise inprogramming complex surfaces with CAD/CAM software including high
    speed/dynamic machining practices.
    • Integrated plastics conversion experience is preferred with particular emphasis
    given to individuals with dual purpose machining of polymer products to tight
    tolerances.
    • Proficient on all standard/nonstandard shop tools and equipment.
    • Knowledge and use of relevant CAD/CAM software applications and skills on a
    daily basis to maintain efficient process flow.
    • Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion, particularly as it
    relates to development of new processes and/or improvement of existing
    processes in a manufacturing environment.
    • Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from multiple
    backgrounds
    • The candidate must be creative and have excellent problem-solving skills with the
    ability to multitask and work on multiple projects.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Education
    • High School/GED is required. Technical Associates Degree or Certification or
    higher preferred.
