    make Lathe tool holders

    Hello Everyone.

I want to make some lathe tool holders for a 8 position turret lathe . My problem is finding material. I would like to make them out of 4140 just because I have seen others on the web use it for similar things.
The material would have to be solid square or similar . Approx 100mm x 100mm by 120mm long. I have googled and called few companies with no luck . Any contacts for material or even suggestions for a different material would be great.
I am on the east coast of Australia half way between Sydney and Melbourne so freight is similar either way.

    Thanks.

According to Firefox, that buau.com.au web site is a serious security risk. Not going there.
Pity: Bohler (same thing) has a lot of good steel.
Ring them instead? They have a good paper catalog.

The only problem with their site is that they use their main SSL certificate for their encryption, that is registered in their main domain www.bohlercolombia.com, both sites are hosted on the same server, it throws the error because the domain is buau.com.au is not the one listed on the certificate which makes it invalid for the certificate, the site is not harmful

That may be so, but it implies that their web bunnies (or server admin) are incompetent, which means that the site could become a security risk from hackers seeking targets. It also means they are going to lose quite a lot of potential customers. Not clever.

Really, Bohlers is not the kind of place you can buy on line so why get stressed? I have a feeling that is an old website and they changed their name as sometimes global companies do. But at least you have found the information you need so give them a call and work it out from there.

I am modifying my lathe just a little bit added C indexing. Need to add live tooling for off center drilling , tapping and side drilling for some products I am making.
