    Resetting X0 Y0 Z0.

    Hi,

Although I'm still only milling in virtual reality, I'm making some progress. One problem I will run into in real life is how to set machine zero. I have an idea, but I'd like to know if it is possible / logical.
My end switches are in series per axle, not in total. So I have a separate signal per axle. The X0 Y0 Z0 is in the middle of my table (because I want it to). Now I want to do the following. I tell the machine to G00 to X1000 Y1000 Z1000, which are all 'a bit' outside of the machine's range. So, after reaching it's X limit switch, it stops the X movement but Y and Z continue. Then Y stops, then Z. (or in any order, depending on where you start). Now I calculate / measure where the router stopped, compared to the zero point. I then overwrite the DROs of the axle positions with these figures and presto, it knows where the zero point is. Next time I power up the machine, I run in into it's limit switches, overwrite the DROs and Im' ready to go. Only when I change routerbit I need to reset the Z value, but otherwise I think I should be OK.
    Questions:
    Does this all make sense?
Can Mach3 continue G00 in the two other directions when the first limit switch has been tripped?

    Thanks,

    Hugo

No, but you can assign the limit switches your'e referncing from as both home and limit switches. Then home the machine to those switches, and setup up switch offsets in the homing screen. Then just home the machine at the end, and it will automatically know where your 0,0,0 is. For example, if the X switch is at 800, when it homes, it will automatically set the X axis to 800.

Addendum: Look under Config/Homing/Limits/SoftMin & SoftMax. Don't forget to check Auto Zero.
