I have a CNC Bridgeport clone (Accu II - Birmingham) with R8 spindle. Does anybody know if the spindle can be changed to type 40 and if so where to get retrofit spindle.

If the machine is the size of a regular 2J BP then you will need a entire head replaced with a 40 taper spindle in it. I have a Bridgeport BTC and it is a 40 taper mill, the quill in is around 5" diameter.

Is there a piticular reason why you want to change spindles from an R8 to 40 type?
BTCs aren't 40 taper, funny 35 taper iirc, and it is a standard bridgeport quill, unless they had some option
I have seen regular clone bps with 40 taper
R8 is a joke for real productivity. I fdo find the universal q/s is pretty rigid for most stuff

I think there is very few of these 40MMT taper machines.

there are only hundreds of the btc at all, yours is a series 2 and i'm not sure it is standard at that. I would not relate any info from it to any normal bridgeport
