Cleaning Fanuc Power supplies, Servo amps?

    Any suggestions?

The shop I work at cuts cast iron, some of the tooling cuts without coolant. So, dusty. But, I was wondering, from experiance, what would be a good way to combat the dustiness? We try to keep it out of the cabinets, but that is like trying to bail out a boat with an ice dipper.
It's not what you cut...It's what you don't cut.

You could try wrapping them in filter paper or installing a dust collector onto the machine.

Remove the Boards and clean it by Iso Prophyl Alcohol ( IPC ) and Dry it or clean it by PCB Cleaning Liquid, and Coat the PCB with Varnish for Insulation.
After that you can install Dust collectors

If you internally pressurize the cabinets, you MIGHT help prevent the ingress of dust. Here's how.

Seal up the cabinet as well as possible. Then, find/create a source of clean, filtered air to draw from. Perhaps from another room or even via drawing air thru a set of filters. Pump the filtered air into the cabinets with a single exit where you knowingly force the air that you pumped in, out of.

If you do a good enough job of filtering the air going in, you should be able to keep the inside of the cabinet relatively clean.

Filters: K&N makes oil wetted special paper filters that are QUITE effective in filtering air for IC engines. Actually, once they get a bit of crud on them, they actually work BETTER at trapping/filtering out small particles.

The ingress of fine dirt, especially in off-road racing, will KILL an IC engine in very short order - especially with microscopic dirt. The K&N stuff is one of if not the best filter mediums out there for IC engines.

Outside of using a trick separator/filter arrangement, this is a good DIY method of providing clean filtered air to a CNC cabinet.
