Can I cut a bit of the z-lead screw on a Taig mill?

The Z-lead screw often crashes with my wooden work pieces if they are high enough to reach that level, so I need to know if it is possible to cut a bit of this lead screw and how much I can cut without creating any problems.

    That is all up you!!!
The only limitations on how much your remove.....
How close to the table will you ever cut ???

    Depending on your requirements
A spacer block for the headstock may help...

    good luck
