Flutes for cutting aluminum on workbee

    Hi All,

I've recently built a workbee and would like to try milling 1/4" aluminum plate. Can anyone guide me to what kind of flute I should buy to accomplish this? Also, apologies if this is a newbie question, I am very new to all of this.

2 and 3 flute bit will work fine for aluminum. 2 is my preference and I'd stay away from 4 flute bits. Just as important is the proper helix. Specialized helix angles for aluminum are typically either 35°, 40°, or 45°. The goal with less flutes is their effect on cutting speed/temps. The higher helix bits clear chips better and improve material removal.. The exact "best" bit depends on the aluminum composition/type, thickness and your machines capabilities.. and of course the finish you require.
