More position repeteability sensor when homing?

Please, I am designing my own CNC Milling Machine. Now I need to be clear about Home Position. I will use stepping motors with open loop control. No encoders. What is the more accute sensor for home position?. I want to go always to the same position whenever I switch off and on my machine. I have read thar mechanical switches (lever or plunge type) and inductive are not good solutions.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards!

It depends on the mechanical switch, there are precision switches available.

Another way with inexpensive switches is to combine a linear switch _and_ a proximity sensor or optical switch that detects a slot on
a disk mounted to the step motor shaft. With just a 3.25" disk (~10" in motion at disk edge per turn) you get a ~50x improvement in switch
accuracy assuming 0.2" (~5mm)/ turn screws

And what about this type of 5volts opto? How accute are they? Do anyone have any opinion about "Hall effect magnetic sensor"?
    Thanks in advance!
