Ghosting effect while cutting - duff laser?

Guys, pretty sure I know the answer to this, but can you take a look at the pictures below? Essentially, at anything above engraving power on my K40 clone I get a ghosting effect clearly visible on the first picture. in the second picture you can see the laser output marks, the left one is direct from the laser to the first mirror, and the second is what the 2nd mirror 'sees'

I am assuming that as the double spot thing is directly from the laser that it is a problem with the laser itself? If not obviously I'd like to know what can be done to correct it if possible. I can cut and engrave fine over the entire area of the laser bed, I spent a good amount of time aligning everything and fixing issues with the K40 clone itself. These include making two replacement brackets at the correct height, replacing the really sh***y screws, tightening up a load of stuff that was loose.... a pretty long list

    Any advice gratefully received

    Cheers

I imagined it would be the case. I've gone for a Ten-High laser tube as a replacement, it comes with the wires attached so hopefully won't be a hassle to fit. If nothing else I will have a back up. I also went for an upgraded head and mirror assembly, hopefully that helps too

Changed the laser for the Ten-High one, immediately better! And lucky old me didn't even have to redo the alignment, it was right on.

    Cheapo laser = rubbish!
